Chapter 4

I walked through the main opening, a pathway between the forest leading straight to the gates of the Goblin settlement.

Ru-nu gave me everything I want.

A hundred fighters, the khan and his mate the shaman. The rest were all away, tried to strongarm some Goblin village, trying to raid enemies, hunting beasts or whatever the khan wanted. This meant their heart was not the most defended in terms of numbers..

Among them, the Khan was a great fighter, more skilled than Wu-tu who was following beside me. But the Shaman was a spell caster… she commands the power of the forest and the swamp. She was a real threat.

I closed my eyes, I felt the mana flow in me,

Re-direct

Shape it to your will.

This battle will push me to my limits, and finally a true challenge. I felt goosebumps, the urge to run at the village, to face death, and to feel the thrill of conquest.

By now they should know we are arriving. As the crude wooden palisade of the settlement came into sight the army of Goblins arrayed against us became apparent.

Just twentyish here

They were ill-disciplined and in poor formation. But a mob is still more than a couple. They moved towards us, there faces were now clearly visible. They were smiling almost as if they were mocking us. A few wore thick animal hides while others were bare-chested, only tattoos and paint.

“Finish them”

I commanded and Wu-ti flew, her small body leaping on a more muscular Goblin wearing animal hides with peculiar markings. Heads turned, and smiles vanished as the entire mob turned towards their boss, now skewered by Wu-ti’s blade.

Then a head fell as my sword slashed a confused Goblin warrior, another gasped and tried turning towards me only for its throat to slit open.

In the corner of my vision, Goblins tried to catch Wu-ti with their spears while she flew between them like a blur. I concentrated on finishing up those in front of me. Heads flew, others fell clutching their slashed necks and within five minutes all lay dead.

Screams and shouts came from the village. Another mob was coming at us, this one much larger.

“Charge!” I commanded, and Wu-ti flew again, leaping towards the leader, skewering him before jumping away from the thrusts of confused warriors, dashing between them with supernatural agility. Here and then a spear thrust would slash a Goblin in the neck or skewer them before she retreated back to her dance.

When I charged slashing their necks they were caught off guard, making them easy prey. Yet more came running even as dead Goblins piled up all around us, a spear flew right past my face, and another almost tried to grab onto me before I kicked it back and stabbed it right in the chest.

A horn blared,

“WAARFS!” a Goblin screamed behind the lines. It was armed with a clearly human-made sword while it carried the giant horn in the other. I charged onto him, ignoring the rabble around me. It turned towards me and
